Social Bookmarking
del.icio.us
del.icio.us is probably the simplest of the many social bookmarking tools out there on the web -- sign up for an account, download the toolbar, and from there, whenever you see a site that you like, you just tag it. No more worrying about which machine you were working on when you bookmarked something; del.icio.us lives on the web, so your bookmarks will always be there for you.
The "social" part of social bookmarking comes from the fact that you can search other people's bookmarks on del.icio.us to see if they might have found a good site for a topic that interests you. Just go to delicious, type in keywords that you are looking for, and you'll come up with sites that others have tagged with those same keywords.

Just go to delicious, type in keywords that you are looking for, and you'll come up with sites that others have tagged with those same keywords.
FIRST, find a nifty new website. There are a number of ways to do this; some more effective than others:
- Conduct a Google search and keep your fingers crossed.
- Use Go2Web20, an online Web 2.0 directory that organizes tools according to keyword tags. This is the method we're going to have you use today, since it's a fabulous resource that we think you'll want to visit again and again (plus, unlike the next option, it doesn't require any kind of download).
- You could also try a tool like StumbleUpon - this tool asks about your interests first, then when you click "Start Stumbling," takes you to sites specific to your interests. Then you give a thumbs up or thumbs down to indicate whether you like that site, and StumbleUpon starts 'learning' your preferences. The folks at the site like to say, "the more you use it, the smarter it gets!" StumbleUpon includes a toolbar widget, so that you can just click the icon to start stumbling:
SECOND, bookmark your website using delicious. You can do this one of two ways:
- download the delicious toolbar (we can't do this on the workshop computers, but you can certainly do this for your computer at home, or ask the HelpDesk to add it to your office computer). The just click the "TAG" icon whenever you have a site you'd like to bookmark, and complete the information -- especially tags/keywords that you might look up later -- about the site.
- if you don't have the toolbar, just log in to your delicious account, click "Save a new bookmark," give the URL for the site that you wish to bookmark, and then complete the information.
That's all there is to it! Now, when you go to look at your list of delicious bookmarks, the newly saved site should be in your list.
Now it's your turn . . .
Once you have successfully bookmarked some interesting sites in Delicious, add a link to your bookmarks in your Weebly page by posting your Delicious URL (for example, http://delicious.com/onemaricopa).
